a long week has passed

A long week has passed, for me it was the longest week ever!
Last monday, June 15, I started school again. That means I have to leave Nia home! It is so hard for me, it's almost 4 long hours! Imagine? It was our first time to be far with each other for that long. I was so worried when I texted my hubby and he said she didn't sleep yet and keeps on crying since I was gone. I think she's looking for me! When I was home, you can see it to her little face how she missed her Mama. It just melts me! But I need to go to school too!
And it happened again on the following days I was in school.

Tulips are everywhere!

Spring time has come! It is the time for Netherlands famous tulips! I was really amazed with beautiful flowers that you can only see on the sides of the streets. You will feel like you are in the Garden of Eden. The weather is so nice too, lots of sunshines. Not warm and not cold. What else can you ask for!
Can't wait for the next pring season!

Tulips- I took this while walking, it was just growing on the side of the street.

Thank God!

I already gave birth! Last week, March 8, 2009 at 5:07 am. Baby Nia Mercedes is only 5 pounds. I was only 36 weeks and 6 days pregnant, so she is more than 3 weeks arly, but everything is good with her. She's a healthy little angel.

I was so tired and busy in the past days, the first week after labor is a hell, but good that we managed it (me, hubby and baby). I am slowly recovering now. Thank you for all the prayers you guys offered to me.

36th week of pregnancy

I am very excited to hold and see my baby, so as my husband and his family. My hubby had even dreamed off that I am waking him up in the middle of the night and I am already laboring, I think he is more excited and nervous than me, so as my mama back home (she had dreams too).
I know this situation is hard for my parents and it is hard for me either. Sometimes I feel so lonely and want to go home and give birth there, but I can't! Hopefully everything will go fine and smooth. Wish me all the luck.

What is happening with my baby?:
Your baby is likely between 17 ½ to 19 inches long and weighs 5 ¾ to 6 ¾ pounds.
The fine downy hair, lanugo, that has covered you baby’s skin is beginning to disappear, along with the vernix caseosa. Vernix caseosa is the thick, creamy substance that has protected your baby’s skin while he/she has been submerged in amniotic fluid. Both of these are swallowed by your baby, along with additional amniotic fluid, which combine together to form meconium, or your baby’s first bowel movement.
Your baby should be in the head down position, but do not panic if he/she has yet to attain this position. If by next week he/she is still not head down, then your health care provider may suggest trying external cephalic version.

What are the changes in my body?:

Your baby is continuing to put on the weight (about an ounce a day), but you most likely will not notice a change in your own weight. You may feel like there is no room left for your baby to grow and may be very tired of feeling so "big", but remember that the longer your baby is in its protective environment up until its due date, usually the better it is.
You may notice an increase in the amount of Braxton Hicks contractions that you experience. True labor will eventually follow the Braxton Hicks contractions, but many women are often told that they are actually experiencing a false alarm or false labor. While this can be incredibly frustrating, it can be a good practice run for getting to the hospital.

at last!

At last, I have the time today to update my blog. It has been a month. I missed blogging a lot but i have to do the personal things first.

From this day, I am 3 weeks and 6 days before my due date. I am so excited but nervous at the same time. I am really praying and hoping everything will be good and safe. Please help me pray. I'm sure by the time my baby is here, I will have limited time and I think I can't blog as much as before anymore. I will just try my very best to update once in a while.

Thank you for all the visitors, the friends and the prayers!

God bless us all!

32nd week of my pregnancy

I am almost in my due date. Only 8 weeks to go and we will all can see my baby. I am so excited to see to whom she will get her physical aspects, from her Mama or from her Papa., or maybe both.
I am starting to wash all the baby things we bought so it is all ready in time.

How is my baby this week: In the latest womb reports, your amazing baby has now developed sensitivity to temperature! This means you’ll probably get a swift kick if you put a hot pad on your ginormous belly. For the Elton John lovers out there-- yes, baby’s got blue eyes. At this point, all babies do, although depending on their chromosomal disposition, this could easily change after birth (or even between now and labor), but for the time being, blue it is. Thanks to their recently matured lungs and a remarkably strong immune system, over 90% of babies born in their 32nd week, survive premature births. So it’s pretty much a done deal. Even if your little monkey’s planning on heading out early, their survival odds are in everyone’s favor. Time to celebrate (no, no, wait until after the birth to crack open the champagne!) We’re talking baby-showers and alcohol-free punch!

For the Mommies: If your family or significant other is around and involved, it’s probably time to start discussing what’s going to happen when you really go into labor. Of course, the delivery itself can be quite overwhelming for first-time viewers, so make sure and openly discuss the fact there will be blood, sweat, mucous, and possibly even a bit of poop (if you didn’t know already, it’s likely that while in labor and pushing, you also push out a bit of the ol’ number 2—it’s totally normal if not a little disgusting). Even the weak-stomached birthing buddies can still help to make the labor-process more bearable with breathing assistance, massages, and constant reassurance and cheering: "Yay! That was a great contraction honey!" (Now run! Before she breaks your wrist!). For the more blood-bold and not so faint of heart, the positions of cameraman, baby-catcher, and/or umbilical cord-cutter are always available—just talk to your doctor or mid-wife beforehand so they can be prepared to deal with an extra person during the birthing process.

28 weeks of Pregnancy

How is my baby growing..
As the Big Day nears, your baby is getting ready to go towards the light at the end of the tunnel (the tunnel being the birth canal, the light being the one the doctor is shining directly into it so she can see what the heck she's doing). Other highlights this week:Your baby's eyes are partially open now and can blink. Truly superior babies can actually wink. (OK, there is no way to prove that, but it's fun to imagine, no?) Your baby can also now become a shiny, happy person as she has begun having rapid eye movement (Get it? REM? Shiny, happy person?? We'll be here all week.)Her eyes have color now, too. It may not be the color she ultimately ends up with, especially if they're light gray or blue. The eyes typically don't settle on a final hue until nine months after baby is born. So when your mother-in-law says that the baby has her eyes, you can politely inform her that they'll most likely change soon. Sorry.Your babe is downright chubby compared to a few weeks ago. She is about 15 inches long, about the length of an amusement park cinnamon-sugar-coated churro (yum!), and weighs 2 to 3 pounds.

For the Momies..
Your BodyWoohoo! You have hit the third trimester mark, so add another notch to your belt (both figuratively and literally). If your early blood workup showed that you are Rh negative, you'll need to get a shot of RhoGAM, or Rh immunoglobulin, this week. The shot prevents potential complications in a future baby you may carry if that baby is Rh positive. Your Rh status doesn't matter when it comes to this baby, but you'll want to get the shot in case you're planning on having more bambinos. If your baby is born with Rh-positive blood (because Papa chipped in an Rh-positive gene), you'll be given another dose of RhoGAM after you deliver to make sure everything will be good to go for any future pregnancies. If your glucose screening test came back positive, your doc will probably want to give you a glucose tolerance test some time soon. The test—for gestational diabetes—involves some dietary changes in the days leading up to it (more carbs!) and a longer visit to the doc on the day of the test (it's a three-hour test instead of the one-hour one you took the first time). And it's another chance to load up on that yummy glucose cocktail—shaken, not stirred! If you do end up testing positive for gestational diabetes, your doctor will probably put you on a super-healthy diet for the remainder of your pregnancy.

Welcome 2009!

Happy New Year everyone! Everyone are excited to see the beautiful fireworks, eat the yummy foods and celebrate the coming year with our love ones.
In Philippines, we have lots of beliefs and lucky charms put on the table for 12am. Like throw coins, lots of fruits on the table, lots of foods, lots of circle candies, wear polka dots, have money in your wallet and all. We got that from the chinese because Filipinoes believe in the Feng Shui.
I am missing that this year, so as my mama and papa. It is my first time to celebrate a dutch New Year.
That's life, all I wish is to have a healthy, happy and blessfull 2009 to all my family and friends.
We are so excited to see our baby too. Wish she is beautiful and healthy.

Welcome the 2009 with happiness everyone!

Christmas Dinner with in-laws

My in-laws had the Christmas dinner with us last december 25,2008. I cooked Lechon Manok Filipino style (roasted chicken), potatoes and fresh vegetable salad. My in-laws brought meats for fondue. You have to cook it in oil in the table while you are eating. The food was all yummy. We are all very full. They love the Filipino style chicken. It was finished with belgian chocolate ice cream desert.
